Who We Are

It is our mission to support, and empower survivors of sexual assault and sexual abuse. We serve as a liaison between individuals affected by sexual violence, the justice and medical systems, and community services. We are committed to working towards the prevention of sexual violence.

We are a team of Nurses and Physicians who provide medical and emotional support to those who have experienced a sexual or domestic assault Our team also has specialized counselors who offer therapeutic intervention and support.

Primary sexual assault and sexual abuse crisis and education service provider for Durham Region. DV/SACC provides safe, accessible, professional services, for people of all races, abilities, religions, sexual orientations, or genders.

Our Services

Information and emotional support for anyone who has experienced sexual violence or who needs information about sexual violence, or services and/or community referrals.

  • Emergency medical services is available 24 hours a day by nurses at the Emergency Department of Lakeridge Health Hospital in Oshawa.

  • Non-emergency support services for adults and teens beyond the 72 hours time limit for sexual assault
  • Non-emergency services for children beyond the 24 hour limit for sexual assault

  • Individual and group counseling for adults.
  • Individual counseling for children.

How we help

Emergency accompaniment to hospital, information and emotional support for female and male survivors of recent sexual violence.

  • Examination and treatment following a sexual and or physical assault
  • Documentation and photographs of any injury.
  • Collection of forensic evidence.
  • Referrals to community resources.

  • Risk Assessment.
